AWESOME PET CANS!

Filed under: School Events — Jadein at 11:03 am on Thursday, May 10, 2012  Tagged , , , , , , ,

My class is doing an Entrepreneurs Fair later this month. It’s really fun and you can make a ton of money and learn how to run a business. Maybe as you know by the title I am making something called pet cans! It’s like pet rocks but instead it’s a can. Cool, huh? Another thing is I have to get around 50 cans to make enough.  I’VE HAD TO EAT A LOT OF SOUP!! The good thing is that there are people helping me of with the soup part….Thanks…. <3 I’m never going to eat soup again after this! They are great pets though. You don’t have to clean up after them and they don’t cost a lot of money to feed. Plus, no vet bills! Awesome, eh?

“Tim Hortons Community Clean Up”

Filed under: BLoging,School trips — Jadein at 1:03 pm on Tuesday, May 8, 2012  Tagged , , , , , , , , ,

My class had to do The ” Tim Hortons Community Clean Up “  For me I didn’t enjoy it as much.  I know helping the planet is good and all but not that fun. We do get Timbits for all the  garbage we collected, but I don’t think it was worth the Timbits even with how yummy they are.  I  honestly think we deserve money for all the work we’ve done.  The Tim Hortons Community Clean Up started 3 years ago but this is the first time our class participated. Greaaaaat!

Also you ever had Twinkie? I don’t see them much in Canada. Maybe I would have liked it more if they gave us Twinkies.

Well, we were sure nice right? Picking up garbage and all…

Pink Shirt Day 2012

Filed under: BLoging — Jadein at 1:25 pm on Thursday, March 8, 2012  Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

Pink Shirt Day is a day for people to take a stand against bullying.  It’s a great day becuase everyone who is a part of this wears a pink shirt. It’s an awesome day that started in 2007 with a Grade 9 boy who wore a pink shirt to school in Nova Scotia, Canada and he was bullied for it. Some random boys in Grade 12 heard about and were ticked off by it because they didn’t that should happen at school or anywhere. They used facebook and MSN to tell other classmates about the incident, but they also told everyone they talked to to wear a pink  shirt to school the next day. So everyone did.  EVERYONE wore a pink shirt and now it’s an annual event! This year is was on February 29, 2012

Bullying is a very very serious subject which people have to know about. I think the boy was was bullied in this case was accused of being gay or something. This is not a reason to pick on someone. Everybody has a right to be who they area and wear what they want as long as it doesn’t hurt anyone. And by the way I’m wearing a pink shirt right now.  Please stand up against bullying!

Silverwing is an fantastic book about a young bat named Shade who has to battle his way back to his family. This book will leave you on the top of your chair with amazement. You won’t want to stop reading it. I can’t properly describe it with words, so maybe pictures will do it better.

This book is so great I made a book trailer for you, because everything I said is absolutely true. Oh yay!

Thanks for watching! (no one is a 90′s kid)

New Years Resolutions! – 2012

Filed under: BLoging — Jadein at 11:03 am on Friday, January 20, 2012  Tagged

Want to hear about my New Year’s resolutions? I’m not going to make a few resolutions then fail before January even ends. 80% of New Year’s resolutions fail right in peoples’ faces because they think it’s just going to happen, so we are trying to be that 20% that succeeds. It’s going to be hard but I think I’m going to live…..”sigh”….. I should be more happy about it, right? I should think more about the resolutions. Some people are thinking more about “the end of the world”. I personally believe the world is NOT going to end and I don’t get why people are fussing about it. If the world really does, I would probably make the best of it. But I should probably talk about how New Years started, right? I have no choice, anyways. :)

New Year’s started in Mesopotamia 4000 years ago in Sumer. Have you heard about Mesopotamia or Sumer? Mesopotamia was one of the first civilizations and Sumer was a kingdom in it. This all took place where Iraq is today. Back then New Year’s resolutions weren’t about quitting smoking and losing weight.  It was mostly about growing healthy crops. We took it and made it to our own thing –  all thanks to the Mesopotamians!

My New Years resolutions:

Personal Goal: My personal goal is to go outside more because I’m bored of staying inside all day. I don’t play any sports and don’t go to any groups that involve being out in nature. I’m just that type of person, I guess. I only like to stay inside, play video games, and be on the Internet! It’s a BIG part of my life and that’s why I want to change it. My plan is to hangout with friends more and take my dogs for long, scenic walks.

Global Goal: My global goal is to make more blog posts. As I said in my personal goal, the Internet is a large part of my life, but, the one thing I didn’t say is I don’t make enough blog posts and since it is a part of my grade it would be better for me to do so.  My plan is to put my posts in my own words because this blog is about about me and what I care about. The more I put in my own words the more happy I will feel, which obviously will make me less miserable.  I can also teach others about global issues which can help people be aware of what’s going anywhere in the world. Maybe it could help change the world and make it a better place and more accomodating and accepting to others.

Local Goal: My local goal is to recycle more because sometimes the recycling is all gross and makes my family look like we don’t care about healthy choices. We have a home and I want it to look nice and help out my neighbourhood and community.  My mom gets mad when I haven’t sorted and cleaned up our recycling. If I can remember to do it more often or build a schedule for it I will be able to stay on top of what it should be like and avoid what it has come to be.

School Goal: My school goal is to do more work  because I don’t like being behind on my school work and leaving school with a ton of homework. Since I came to this school, it’s been better and right now I’m pretty on task, but if I can get better at it now, then I will be prepared for next year in highh school. I don’t want it to be like grade five again when I had so much homework, it hurt my back  just looking at it. My plan is to stay organized with my work, like what homework should I do first or finding out what’s overdue and what’s SUPER-overdue. Writing this super long post is my first step!

I have a plan. I will succeed.

Vancouver Riot? Are you serious?

Filed under: BLoging, munkey — Jadein at 8:40 am on Monday, June 27, 2011

5840652986_c4e428efb3There was an incident in Vancouver the other night. There was a riot in the streets because the Canucks lost the Stanley Cup game. I think the fans should not take it so seriously. They shouldn’t wreck their own home town because their team lost a hockey game. There were Bruins fans being beat up, cars were flipped over and burned and stores were wrecked. There was no way for people to get out of downtown safely. I don’t think a lot of those people were real fans and many were influenced by alcohol.

It was kind of scary because we live close to Vancouver! It makes me think it might not be safe there. I have family that lives in Vancouver and it makes me scared to go there during big events.

I feel like these people were not acting like real fans. They were posers! If you are not from Canada you might think it is a bad place but it’s not. Vancouver is a really great city. People got overwhelmed with the whole hockey thing and got hostile with Boston fans. It was just one of those events that I probably won’t forget.  Since we are really close to Vancouver it makes me think how really big the world is. Don’t be scared to come to Vancouver because there are a lot of good things that still happen there! After the damage, REAL Canuck fans came downtown and helped clean up the city. I thought it was very respectful. Also, the city put up plywood, and people decided to sign it in their show of happiness, sadness, disappointment, and pride in their city. Great job, Canucks, and good game, Bruins.

Earth Hour

Earth HourEarth Hour is something that happened in Australia in 2006. People turn off their lights and save some power for one hour.  People  all over the world are encouraged to light fires and candles and have fun. Earth Hour spread all  over the world within  a couple of years. Now it’s celebrated yearly on April the 22nd.  My mom and I turned off our lights and we hung out in the dark. What did you do or what could you do next year?

Digital Footprint

Filed under: BLoging — Jadein at 1:05 pm on Tuesday, May 31, 2011  Tagged , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , ,

social networkZI have joined Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Daily Booth, Flickr, Hotmail and Gmail.  When I joined these sites I only gave them my name, email and the informaiontion that I had to. I didn’t fill in the information that wasn’t required. When I googled my name it only showed the networks I joined where I used my name as the user name.

A digtial footprint could still be around even after your dead. It starts when you join social networking  accounts and it leaves a digital track of the sites you have visited.

Be careful what you do when you are on a social network and not leaving too much information where people could track you down. How many social networks have you joined and how much information did you leave?

POWER!

This is a post about POWER and NUCLEAR WASTE!

Did you know that  nuclear waste can be dangerous and damaging?

  • Radioactive waste is generally divided into three categories low, intermediate and high, depending on the level of radioactivity.
  • Did you know that it takes hundreds of thousands of years for nuclear fuel to be non-radioactive.
